David Friedman 80th anniversary tour with the Generations Trio<\/strong><\/p>\n

When someone turns 80 years old, they have a lot to tell, firstly about the past, what they haven't already done:<\/p>\n

Projects with the bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi<\/strong>, or with the vibraphonist Dave Samuels<\/strong> and so many other great musicians enriched his career, and are extensively documented alongside his own albums.<\/p>\n

There are numerous recordings and performances with Geri Allen, Jane Ira Bloom, Bob James, Charlie Mariano, Joe Henderson, Hubert Laws,<\/strong> or Chet Baker, Horace Silver<\/strong> and Wayne Shorter<\/strong>, the jazz legends to whom Friedman<\/strong> itself already counts.<\/p>\n

But also studio recordings with popular artists such as Billy Joel, Yoko Ono, Aretha Franklin, George Benson<\/strong> or Nile Rodger<\/strong>s Chic.<\/p>\n

In August 2007, he was appointed KOSA International Percussion Festival<\/strong> with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the art of vibraphone playing and education, while in 2008 he was honored at the Ludwig Albert Marimba Festival<\/strong> was honored in Belgium for his life's work.\u00a0Friedman<\/strong> has retained a curiosity that keeps him looking to the future.<\/p>\n

The three generations with shooting star Tilo Weber<\/strong> on drums, the sought-after sideman Oliver Potratz<\/strong> on bass and the jazz professor David Friedman<\/strong> on the vibraphones, develop an amazingly orchestral band sound that is fresh and hip and at the same time firmly rooted in the deep tradition of jazz.<\/p>\n

That with the Generations Trio<\/strong> current album recorded in Sardinia \u201eSurge of silence\u201c<\/strong>\u00a0 is the happy occasion of a birthday tour. MPS-Studio e.V.<\/strong> is delighted to welcome this jazz legend to Villingen, with an instrument that is also used by MPS<\/strong> has a tradition, the vibraphone! The Dave Pike Set<\/strong> as well as the Michael Naura Trio<\/strong> released wonderful albums with this instrument on MPS already<\/span><\/strong> in the\u00a0<\/span>60s and 70s.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
