Sa\u0161o Vollmaier<\/strong> is a Slovenian composer and pianist. He works with the Panteatre<\/strong> and the Roy Hart International Art Center<\/strong> in Paris, the Studio for performing arts<\/strong> in D\u00fcsseldorf and has been teaching at the Academy of Arts in Arezzo, Italy, since 2014. In recent years, he has also intensified his own solo projects, which primarily include Vollmaier: Kind of Laibach<\/strong>, Vollmaier:Nietzsche<\/strong>\u00a0and Vollmaier:Ligeti (How to Explain Ligeti to a Dead Audience)<\/strong> include.<\/p>\n

He seeks his expression in darker sound spaces, between the classical and improvised worlds. He was awarded the Yamaha Artist Prize (2023). In recent years, he has also been active in the field of performance and theater, creating music for dance and theater performances. His passion for the human voice led him to the \u201eCentre Artistique International Roy Hart\u201c (Mal\u00e9rargues, France) and the Accademia dell'Arte (Arezzo, Italy).<\/p>\n

Vollmaier will play 2 sets of 40 minutes each:<\/p>\n

Vollmaier: Kind of Laibach<\/strong>
\nImagine what it would be like to carve out a piano classic from the \u201eindustrial\u201c, monolithic sound of the Slovenian cult band Laibach. Vollmaier does not take on this challenge, as one might expect, by means of preparations or electronic interventions, but by taking inspiration from the piano virtuosos Glenn Gould and Vladimir Horowitz as well as from one of his teachers (formerly also a member of the band Ljubljana<\/strong>) Aci Bertoncelj<\/strong> is inspired. He remains true to the original music by exploring the extreme limits of the performer and the instrument. The linear rigor of Ljubljana<\/strong> he breaks with industrial precision and physical endurance, but the end result is surprisingly even more monolithic.<\/p>\n

Vollmaier: Error
\n<\/strong>A new composition that will be premiered in February at the prestigious Ment Festival<\/strong> in Ljubljana and for the first time in Germany in the MPS Studio<\/strong> is performed. In addition to the performance of the B\u00f6sendorfer Grand Imperial<\/strong> electronics will also be used.<\/p>\n
