An extraordinary guitar concert in the MPS studio<\/strong>

On Sunday, February 15, the legendary MPS Studio<\/strong> The setting for a very special concert: the guitarists Volker Sch\u00e4fer<\/strong> and Rainer Haug<\/strong> present a duet that is reminiscent of the unforgotten Brazilian master Baden Powell<\/strong> reminds. A special highlight: an original Hopf guitar<\/strong> with dedication, which once Baden Powell<\/strong> itself is used.<\/p>\n

THE ARTISTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Volker Sch\u00e4fer<\/strong> is one of the most versatile acoustic guitarists in Germany - as a soloist, as primus inter pares in a band context or as a musical accompanist for cabaret artists, writers and actors. Technically adept, he combines classical playing technique with traditional fingerstyle technique. His way of making music is \u201eunagitated\u201c: no climax-oriented spectacle, but a relaxed, concentrated stroll through various forms of artistic expression.<\/p>\n

In addition to his own pieces, Sch\u00e4fer will also perform works by Baden Powell<\/strong> that he played for his solo CD \u201eTema Triste\u201c<\/strong> in the historic MPS studio. (Read more on the MPS Studio blog<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Rainer Haug<\/strong> - classically trained, equally at home in flamenco and blues - meets Sch\u00e4fer here. For years, the two guitarists lived just a few kilometers apart without ever meeting. Now they form a special duo: border crossers, always on the lookout for something new. \u201eActually, we just had to let our thoughts run free. We enjoy the diversity of ideas and trends, we let everything flow, everything is allowed, it just has to sound good,\u201c say the two musicians.<\/p>\n

\n

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Baden Powell<\/strong> made important recordings in the 1960s and 70s in the MPS Studio<\/strong> made. The producer Joachim-Ernst Berendt<\/strong>, discovered Baden Powell during a visit to Brazil and brought him to Villingen for recordings. Saba (later known as MPS Records) released several of his albums, including \u201eTristeza on Guitar\u201c (1966) and \u201ePoema on Guitar\u201c.<\/p>\n

The combination of location, musicians and the original Hopf guitar<\/strong> makes this concert a unique event. The two guitars create a warm, dialogical atmosphere that honours Powell's spirit, but also allows for their own interpretations.<\/p>\n

This concert combines historical authenticity with the living present - a must for lovers of acoustic guitar music and fans of Baden Powell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
