On June 27, the legendary sound artist Limpe Fuchs Featured in the series 200 Hz – Female Sounds at the MPS Studio. The concert series is dedicated to unique approaches to experimental and improvised music. Recently, Lucrecia Dalt to be featured in the series; coming up in the next few months are, among others Heather Leigh, Maria Portugal, Verena Marisa, Emika, Sofia Jernberg, Brìghde Chaimbeul and other international female artists.
Limpe Fuchs has been one of the leading figures in European avant-garde and improvisational music since the late 1960s. With her project Anima, which at times also featured the famous pianist and MPS artist Friedrich Gulda Through her contributions, she developed a distinctive musical language that blends free improvisation, sound exploration, and performative intensity. There is also a direct connection to the history of the MPS label: Anima was featured on the legendary MPS production of the Heidelberg Jazz Festival is represented here and is thus an integral part of the venue’s musical history.
Her work combines archaic soundscapes with spontaneous musical communication and an extraordinary sensitivity to space, resonance, and movement. For the concert at the MPS Studio Limpe Fuchs will not only bring her signature percussion and sound instruments, but will also play the studio’s Bösendorfer Grand Imperial. The result is a concert evening that blends experimental sound art, improvised music, and a powerful physical presence.
She will be joined this evening by Pit Holzapfel. The Munich-based trombonist studied classical trombone at the Richard Strauss Conservatory and is a founding member of the Ensemble for New Music Piano Possibile and has been deeply involved in free improvisation for many years. He also composes music for documentaries and radio features. His open and sound-oriented playing style complements the musical world of Limpe Fuchs in a unique way.
