With Etc. On Friday, December 4, one of the most exciting experimental bands from Ljubljana will be performing at the MPS Studio. The trio will kick off a two-day Ljubljana Special, which took place the following evening with Vollmaier will continue.

Etc. They operate at the intersection of jazz, electronic music, Krautrock, and Afro-futuristic soundscapes. Their sound is driving, hypnotic, and at the same time radically open: polyrhythmic grooves meet powerful baritone saxophone, modular electronics, and improvisational outbursts. Added to this are the live visuals by the artist Lina Rica, which expand the musical process into a comprehensive audiovisual experience.

The third album is at the heart of the current program „Kimatika“, which was released in 2025 on the renowned Glitterbeat label. The ten tracks blend futuristic jazz with driving grooves, free improvisations, and electronic textures. Uncut described the sound as an irresistible blend of saxophone, Krautrock grooves, and heavy modular electronics; the British magazine Louder Than War describes it as a blend of jazz and Krautrock.

The cast of *Etceteral* includes Boštjan Simon (baritone saxophone, electronics), Marek Fakuč (drums) and Lina Rica (Live Visuals). Since its founding in 2019, the trio has made a name for itself far beyond the Slovenian music scene. Their performances have taken them to the Ljubljana Jazz Festival, as well as to Berlin, Leipzig, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and London, among other places.

With the “Ljubljana Special,” MPS Studio turns its attention for two evenings to the exceptionally vibrant music scene of the Slovenian capital—kicking things off is a band that views jazz not as a stylistic boundary, but as a starting point for new soundscapes.
