Oscar Peterson: A tribute to his 100th birthday - Live with the Hannes Klemme Trio

On August 15, 2025 Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest pianists in jazz, turned 100 years old. The period from 1963 onwards was particularly formative, when he first gave a house concert at Hans-Georg Brunner-Schwer played in Villingen. Brunner-Schwer, founder of the legendary MPS label, recognized Peterson's unique talent and made his first recording with him in an intimate atmosphere, his villa, not far from the MPS studio, which set standards in terms of sound quality and musical depth. This collaboration resulted in numerous iconic releases documenting Peterson's extraordinary virtuosity and emotional intensity.

To mark this special anniversary, we are organizing a concert in honour of Oscar Peterson with the Hannes Klemme Trio. The young band from Mainz, consisting of Hannes Klemme (piano), Mina Lichtenberg (double bass) and Jurij Espenschied (drums), combines swing, bebop and traditional jazz sounds with a fresh yet timeless aesthetic. With sophisticated arrangements and a dynamic dialog between the instruments, the trio embodies the spirit that Peterson's music also radiated: depth, elegance and joie de vivre.

The concert will take place on August 15, 2025 and promises an extraordinary musical experience - a journey through Peterson's musical legacy, interpreted by a promising young jazz formation. Let's celebrate the 100th birthday of an unforgettable master together!
