LUCRECIA DALT (COL) LIVE-CONCERT
Lucrecia Dalt opens the series „200 Hertz - female sounds“
On May 22 presents the MPS Studio with the kind support of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation the Colombian Lucrecia Dalt in an extraordinary trio line-up: Lucrecia Dalt (vocals, electronics, guitar), Cyrus Campbell (double bass) and Alex Lázaro (percussion). Dalt thus opens the new series „200 Hertz - female sounds“, in which outstanding musicians such as Limpe Fuchs, Heather Leigh, Maria Portugal or Sofia Jernberg are to be experienced.
The artist from Pereira, Colombia, has developed a unique voice in contemporary music. Earlier albums such as Commotus (2012) and Syzygy (2013) explored surreal soundscapes on an electronic basis, while later works further refined their experimental approach with complex textures. Their album „Ay“ was selected for the prestigious Wire magazine's annual poll in 2022.
Her latest album A Danger to Ourselves marks a particularly personal step: created from fragments that Dalt composed during the tour and in the first days of a new relationship, it combines intimate reflections with radical sound design. Together with Alex Lázaro she develops pieces in which musical structures emerge from the interplay of bass lines, rhythmic patterns and textural details, not from conventional melodies. Songs like divina move between Spanish and English in hypnotic soundscapes, while hasta el final sets new accents with more direct string arrangements.
A particular highlight of the album is the collaboration with the legendary singer David Sylvian (Japan), who acts as co-producer and guitarist on selected tracks. The album title itself comes from Sylvians Text line in cosa rara and reflects themes such as the fragility of life, the fluctuations of love and the quest for liberation from everyday patterns towards more meaningful inner experiences. A Danger to Ourselves United Dalts The new sound is the result of her work to date and at the same time opens up new paths - a space in which her sonic experiments merge into something intimate and at the same time expansive and universally resonant.
Critics' comments:

“Meticulously crafted, haunting, and hypnotic.” - Uncut
“Lucrecia Dalt's latest album embraces the introspective darkness and sonic openness of triphop and 1990s art pop, using a mix of live instruments and precisely layered sampled rhythms to create pulsating, grinding rhythmic beds over which her lyrics float.” - The Wire
