Ramón Valle Cuban Quartet LIVE CONCERT

18.07.2026

Exclusive concert at the MPS Studio on July 18

The Ramón Valle Cuban Quartet presents the world premiere and final rehearsal of its new album

On July 18, the MPS Studio the setting for an extraordinary concert evening: the exceptional Cuban pianist Ramón Valle is coming with his newly formed Cuban Quartet for an exclusive concert in Germany. This is the first time the ensemble has ever performed in this lineup—and the evening will also serve as both a dress rehearsal and the world premiere of the new album’s program.

Alongside Ramón Valle features three outstanding musicians from the international jazz scene: the saxophonist and clarinetist Joaquin Sosa, the bassist Yandi Martinez as well as the multi-award-winning drummer Dafnis Prieto, who has been one of the leading figures in modern Latin jazz for years.

Ramón Valle is one of the most prominent Cuban jazz pianists of his generation. He began his training early on at the renowned Escuela Nacional de Arte in Cuba. He gained international attention in the early 1990s when the legendary Chucho Valdés described him as „the greatest talent among young Cuban pianists.“ His composition „Levitating“ has since become a modern anthem of Cuban jazz.

Valle captivates audiences worldwide with music that blends Afro-Cuban rhythms, virtuosity, and emotional depth. His concerts have taken him to the major stages of international festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, that North Sea Jazz Festival or that London Jazz Festival. He has already performed alongside artists such as Roy Hargrove and Marcus Miller on stage.

His fellow musicians are also among the top names in contemporary jazz: Joaquin Sosa combines modern jazz with Cuban tradition and impresses with both lyrical and explosive solos. Yandi Martinez is one of the most sought-after bassists on the young Cuban scene and captivates audiences with his enormous stylistic range. Dafnis Prieto after all, as Grammy-award-winning drummer known internationally for his spectacular technique, rhythmic sophistication, and innovative spirit.

For years, the international press has hailed Ramón Valle as an extraordinary artistic figure.

„Valle is a more open, highly emotional piano-trio master than Brad Mehldau. McCoy Tyner and Chick Corea are the musicians who come to mind as comparisons.“
★★★★ – The Guardian, London

„Valle is equally adept at playing with the intense swing of Oscar Peterson—but with a groove that reflects the syncopation of the Afro-Cuban clave.“
- JazzTimes

The concert at the MPS Studio promises a rare and intimate glimpse into the creation of a new musical project—immediate, energetic, and of the highest international caliber. For jazz lovers, this evening is sure to be one of the year’s most memorable concert experiences. In collaboration with In+Out Records.
